Little girls are fragile, dainty, easily hurt and Mom's just want to see that they are seen after all the time. Now, we both know girls and boys need tlc but alot of parents figure a BOY can take care of HIMSELF but the GIRL needs help. Really, both need to know they are loved and worried about but it's just the way society has always been and probably always will be. Be grateful you have parents that care enough to see that they are right there should you ever need them. I guarantee you will need them many times throughout your life and just know you are fortunate to have them. Not all kids do. Hopefully, your brother(s) feel like they can depend on the folks as much as you do. It's annoying, yes but I promise, it will be one of the things you are most thankful for when you are older!

Even in today's modern world, girls are still a lot more vulnerable than boys... mostly for reasons that have always been around. First off, with very few exceptions girls are generally smaller and weaker than boys (so if they get in unsafe situations, it would be harder for them to protect themselves). Second, like someone else said, they can get raped and/or pregnant (the former very unlikely with boys, the latter impossible). Anyway, I could probably think of other reasons, but those two are probably the top things.

As much as no one wants to hear it, girls are more prone to emotional damage than boys. Girls are more prone to being abused than boys. Girls are the ones who pay the ultimate price if they get pregnant. I'm not saying that boys aren't victims too, just that girls are generally wired more delicately than boys and that's why parent's tend to be more protective. Especially dads, because they know what the boys are capable of.

They should be overprotective of boys also in this day & age.
But to answer your question, it's because girls are "defenseless & helpless" and boys can take care of themselves.

Becuase alot of girls gets pregant and like abused when you grow up... and so they want to protect you to be safe
