I ran into the after effects of a motor cycle accident it was a very busy roundabout two bikes had somehow collided and two young men and their bikes wear lying there one was clearly in agony one was lying face down motionless.
It was very busy but no body seemed to know how to help except to phone emergency should every one who holds a driving licence be made to learn first aid. I still feel sick about it now.

It is good for people to know first aid but the most important thing was to call the emergency services because they have all the right kit and skills to deal with such situations.

Without specialist training or first aid knowledge ..... common sense must kick in! What needed to be done here was to ascertain who was most seriously injured for priority treatment, reassure the injured ( very important ), stop the scene from getting worse, i.e. park your vehicle with 4 ways on to prevent further damage, stay with the injured to prevent them moving ( do not remove crash helmets in case of a neck injury ), make sure someone is getting the emergency services, collect witnesses if necessary ( the police will be very grateful ), ascertain that the bikes are imobilised and no spillage of petrol ( otherwise contact the fire service ). No one can do everything right in these circumstances, after all it is a trauma for everyone. Its always useful to carry a blanket to cover an injured person as well.

I know a guy who trains first-responders to provide initial first-aid until the paramedics arrive. He said training city-folk is completely different than training park rangers.
In the city, you get a lot of heart attacks and elderly falls... and help is, worst case, 10 minutes away.
In the woods, you get a lot of physical injuries.. and help is, worst case, 10 miles away!
Being a traffic accident first-responder would be different yet.

ugh. It's interesting people who are against safety laws, like helmet and seatbelt laws think that if they get into a wreck, they don't affect anyone else. Unpaid medical expenses, held up traffic, and just the emotional distress of seeing the bodies. www.thanksforspeeding.com

IT'S GOOD TO KNOW FIRST AID AND CPR , BUT YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL CAUSE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS WHILE YOUR THERE YOU COULD BE HELD RESPONSABLE. SO I SAY STAY WITH THE VICTOM AND KEEP THE CALM AND PHONE 911 AND LET THEM DO THE REST.
