listen to your teacher! After all, you want his/her help in developing Your voice, and not some pale imitation of somebody famous.
If you simply must have role models, switch over to opera for a couple of hours, and listen to such greats as
Hans Hotter, Nikolai Ghiaurov, Martti Talvela, Kurt Moll, and Gottlob Frick. There's even a youtube site called
operamania that will give a listen!
