A friend of mine is being offered a job either in Canada as receptionist or in Abu Dhabi as Customer Sales Representative. Salary would be minimum for Canada - I think 14 to 17 Canadian Dollars per hour. Salary for Abu Dhabi would be around 1350 US Dollars per month. To what country would be the lesser cost of living? Where I can save more money and bring home to my family? Thanks!

I have heard that you can make quite a bit of money working in Middle Eastern countries such as Dubai and the UAE. However, you must keep in mind that although these countries are relatively peaceful in the zone, it is very close to Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq and located on the Persian Gulf.

This is an area that is certainly in dispute at this time, and foreigners could be targetted by locals who are sympathetic to their arabic neighbors.

You won't earn as much money in Canada, but you would be in a stable country. How much your cost of living is depends on what part of Canada you would be working in....Toronto and BC = high costs, Montreal and Maritimes = lower costs.

Go with Abu Dhabi- It's pretty likely that the CoL there is lower with a better pay there too.

If that's your friends choice- tell them to say hi to Nermal for me.

Going with Canada. Not that I have anything against a desert... but trees, a lower drinking age than the US, and mostly English speaking people are the deal breakers.
