If a cat is pregnant, when do they start eating more (how far into the pregnancy, what week?), when do they stop eating (i heard 3 days before delivery?), and when do the nipples enlarge?

I'm trying to figure out when this cat my neighbor gave me would be due to give birth. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. :)

I have no idea when she got pregnant. All I know is that now she's gotten a big hanging tummy, big nipples, and eats a lot. I'm thinking--by the looks of her--she gotta be a few weeks pregnant already.

the first distinct signs of pregnancy happen around two or three weeks after mating. If pregnant, your cat's nipples will start to "pink up" and enlarge a bit in preparation for milk. Then, at between three and four weeks of pregnancy, she may get morning sickness and vomit from time to time. From four weeks onward, the kittens will be visible on an x-ray or sonogram, and may be able to be counted.
Finally, at five weeks your cat's abdomen will start to enlarge. At roughly seven weeks, the queen may begin to lose her appetite and refuse to eat. At this point, the kittens' movement can easily be felt. At seven to eight weeks, she will spend a lot more time grooming herself and might look for a place to have her kittens. Her nipples will then also become even more swollen. They might even expel milky fluid between two to five days before birth.

Do you know when the cat was bred? If it was in the last few days, as cruel as it sounds, spaying her now would be a kindness instead of bringing more kittens into the world that do not get altered, and end up having or siring kittens themselves. Unless of course, you are willing to pay to have the kittens altered before you give them away. It will not harm the mother in any way to have this done now, if the pregnancy is not advanced.

Pregnant cats teats usually turn pink in 18-21 days after mating. They will also stand out from the body. The eating goes on for the entire pregnancy with most cats still eating the day they deliver, depending how uncomfortable they are.

I'm afraid none of this will tell you when she is due. Only if the neighbor can tell you when she was bred, or when she came into heat, could you have some idea.

The one thing that is sometimes evident, is that if you watch her closely, her belly will appear to drop, usually in the last week of pregnancy.

well normally when a female cat is pregnant, her beginning signs of pregnancy is pink nipples and wanting affection (constantly) her being real nice and snugly with you..it is best you give her as much as attention needed, she will need you. also make sure she cannot harm herself, don't let her be in high places. one of my cats has a premature birth because of this. if she falls or you feel something is wrong with her..please take her to the vet immediately and mostly sleeping during day. her hunger wont interact until about 3-4 weeks pregnant. her pregnancy should only last 2 and half months. she will start gaining wait immediately even though she not eating as much as she will be. some female cats don't eat all that much during pregnancy because they upset stomachs. but all my cats had No problem eating. make sure she has plenty of fresh water near by she will be drinking alot. hint: when giving her fresh water (for summer time) out ice cubes in the water also to keep the water fresh and long especially after she gives birth she will drink alot of water..but don't be worried if she doesn't eat as much it is because she is catering to her babies and doesn't want to leave their sight. she wont leave her kittens until she feels the time is right and then she will go back to her normal routine.

hope i helped!!

My cat ate the day before she gave birth. She gradually increased eating, if she needs more she'll let you know. The kittens change positions the day before birth. I saw and felt the head of one poking out at the side - it was turning into position (head first).
