I use Dove, I have hair just like you very hard to manage. I also get mine layered because of it being very think. I think your going to have to try different kinds of shampoo and find what works best for you. When I put my hair up i use a soft brisseled brush and that helps pull my hair back and then usally helps manage those horriable looking bumps.

no stay away from the pantene. pantene is full of wax fillers that at first make hair shiney and soft but they quicklly build up on the hair and will break the hair. that breakage will make your hair even more unmanageable. im a hairdresser and would recomend the paul mitchell smoothing shampoo and conditioner. also try getting a haircut that has some layers in it to help take out some of the weight of your hair. another good product to try is the biolage smoothing shampoo and conditioner.

The best I've used over any other is the John Frieda line. Pick the best for your hair type and color. And I'd suggest you get your thick hair layered. I have the same problem, and thick, long hair is more manageable if it's layered. It can still be long, but especially on top, layer it a bit, and you'll get more lift and you'll have greater styling flexibility!

I have very thick hair also, i find that the Pantnene products work very well, i really like the new ice shine one, it makes my hair soft, shinny, and i can actually run my fingers through it.

Definitely Aussie....it is so great & smells wonderful! And if it's dry use Dove Sheer Moisture. I never take a shower without either of those --try it!!

Pantene is great but Aussie products (espacially the 3 minute miracle bottle?... i think it was called something along those lines) work wonders.
