People, I don't mean in prayer, not your assumption you are having a conversation with God. I mean like a WTF? moment. Complete with a head jerk, a booming voice etc. Lets rule out voices heard while intoxicated, pranks, mental illness, brain tumors, not realizing your bluetooth is in your ear, your Tivo going to live television over your suround sound speakers and your TV was off, clock radio coming on.....etc, etc.

Of course not. But even with a Biblical understanding of God, such moments are extremely rare.

I haven't done a count, but in the Old and New Testaments, there couldn't be more than a hundred people who have had it happen.

And would we really want a micro-managing God who talks to everybody, and tells them what to do?

Booming voice? No. It was a quiet still voice. If it had been any quieter, I would have not heard it.

It was God telling me to not take a trip. I took the trip anyway and was in a car accident that resulted in a fatality. I walked away unharmed, without a scratch, bruise or injury in an automobile that was in a head on collision (without air bags or wearing a seat belt).

I have since learned to pay attention to that small, quiet voice.
