so me and my guy friend have known each other for almost a year and have become close finally i told him that i liked him. and he told me he kind of liked me. then he started calling me and then one weekend we went sleding together and then the next night we went to a party and he kissed me. he act almost like he used to but now he says hes not ready for a girlfriend why would he do this so me when he knows i like him?

He most likely is not ready for a girlfriend, or he realizes that he does not want to lose your friendship and you are not the one for him in a girlfriend way.
Wouldn't you appreciate it more that he is honest with you now, rather than try to work on having a relationship and it doesn't work, and you end up losing each other as friends?

Guys typically like to play the field to see what they like and don't like and whether or not they are ready for a relationship, this might have been a way for him to try things out and see what he thought and it seems that he is not quite ready to have a girlfriend, eventhough there for a little while he took interest in you and came on to you. If he does not date you within the near future then there will be some other guy that will.
