Why Christians only? Hunger is a problem affecting a large portion of the world's population, who are not all Christian, by any means.

Yes, wasting food is a "sin". And I'm an atheist.

my parents said it is a sin..and i do believe that...they always say " Do not take more than you can eat and waste the rest, because wasting food is a great sin."...when i see people wasting food...i feel sad about the poor and the needy who doesn't even have anything to eat..that's really sad :(

It is a sin in the sense that you had more than you could eat on your plate and in a way thats being greedy plus their so many people starving in the world, it just can't be right..

It should be. Everything else is a sin, so why wouldn't wasting what was provided to you be one? "Waste not, want not."

*Not a Christian....but I answered anyways :)

Yes. We are instructed to "love thy neighbor." Letting our neighbors (or fellow humans) die of starvation (not to mention disease) contradicts the teachings of the Bible. Although it's next to impossible to completely avoid, wasting food means wasting precious resources that could save the lives of others.

Of course not, you can only eat so much until you get full. People like to say you should always finish your food because there some that have no food but it doesn't makes sense to eat yourself to death either.
