You're not losing an hour of your life. You will get it back in the autumn when the clocks go back.
I make the current time to be GMT+1.
Prior to World War 1 (or thereabouts) we all stuck to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This is the 'natural' time for Great Britain (for Ireland the 'natural' time would be GMT-1 hour). Natural time is the time basis where the sun is Due South at 12 noon.
All British sundials are calibrated to GMT.
'Summer Time' was introduced as a wartime thing.
BEWARE.
If Central European Time (CET) is introduced that would be GMT+2 in summer and GMT=1 in winter.
People in the UK who live north of Watford or West of Reading will suffer very dark mornings in winter (dawn at 10 am) and it won't get dark until nearly midnight in summer (noisy barbeques from inconsiderate neighbours when you're trying to sleep).
Of course, Londoners and politicians would love CET but farmers, notherners and West Country people will hate it.

Technically, we dont because the last Sunday morning in October the clocks will go back ( hence spring forward, fall back) and we will make that hour back up to keep everything right. If you have a birthday today your birthday will last for 23 hours, if you have a birthday, the last Sunday in October your birthday will last for 25 hours.

no we do not miss out on an hour of our lives.
every year the clocks go forward one hour then back a few months later. so we get that hour back when the clock go back.
as someone else said we have already had a question on this before tonight about an hour or so ago.

You dont miss any time in your life, because the clocks go back in the autumn, so it balances out. It's 4:50 pm now.

You don't miss out on anything. It gets light 'later' in the morning but goes dark 'later' at night. The UK time now is 12:18pm (UTC + 1hr).

Not if you survive till the fall , when they go back.
The killer is when you are on night shift and you get the extra hour but never the short night.
