I have a large door, with no screen upon it. I have 2 cats and would really hate for them to get out. Anyone know what I can do??

Okay, I would buy a screen door. But I live in a apartment-so, I can't.

Without a screen door you pretty much can't. Your only option is to keep the cats closed in another room while the door is open, which, I think, isn't really fair to them.

If it's fresh air you want then open windows and, if that's not enough, buy a window fan. They're cheap and easy to use.

I have screen doors and windows and my kitties love them - to the exent that they've practically destroyed one of the bedroom screens.

Luckily, I have security, burglar proof security panes on my doors and windows too so even tho the flyscreen may be non existant in areas, they are unable to get through the tougher bulglar proof panes on the windows. They get the fresh air but can't get out. The burglar proof panes are there so I can't be broken into, but they have they added bonus in that the kitties can't 'break out of' them either :)

I must admit I own my home so can put them in place wherever I like.

Screen doors, besides keeping kitty indoors add nothing to the apartment. Here's another idea: How aobut getting a security gate, one with a design of some kind in like some metal etc, with no big gaps for kitty to get through? Problem solved. ;)

Why don't you ask the strata management if you can put a screen door.?
I don't know which country you are in! In Australia, if we want to put anything or add anything you ask our strata management.
Another thing is that, if it is anything inside your own apartment you can put a screen door without their permission.
Unless it is a rented apartment, then you ask the landlord to do that for you.
Also screen door keeps the flies away.!!!
Believe me a lot of flies in summer unless you are up higher in your appartment.!!!
Play safe for your kitty cats.!!
Good Luck.!!!

You have a problem because dogie door and babies gates aren't going to work. A cat can jump over a baby gate with no effort at all. Keep the door closed and when you have to open it, either shut them in another room or crate them.

You can try putting the cats in another room and closing the door while you leave the main one open temporarily.

The doggy doors won't work:
- Cats can jump over it really quickly.

I really think the best answer to this is to............... teach them they can't go outside. My cat loves to watch when I come and go but he knows he can't go outside.

I think this is the only rational option. There is no baby/dog gate that a cat can't get over... let's get real. hehehe. If you could get a screen door... perfect, but if not... see paragraph one. :-)

Good luck. I hope your kitties have claws.

There are mesh screen doors that cost less than twenty dollars. Info, see below.

I've seen screens that you can add to practially any door. I believe that they attach with velco strips that you stick onto the door frame. Dunno how strong the velco is, but it's worth a shot. They aren't very expensive, either.
