If you make a suggestion please tell me where it is located and approximately how far it is from the northeast of England - specifically Sunderland/Newcastle (if you know).

I'd have to say Alton Towers. It's more directed at adults compared to Legoland etc.

Looking at google maps it's about 170miles from Newcastle.

Alton Towers!! Best rollercoasters in the country, and a great day out. Looong way from Newcastle, though.
