it's not her choice who you go out with. just because she likes him shouldn't restrict you from going out with him.
if she's really your friend, she would understand that he likes you and she should stay out of the way and be happy for you.

If you "get to go to the mall with him next saturday," sounds like you have decided what to do.
A good friend would have turned down the invitation to go to the mall.

well if you told your friend that you liked him also then go ahead. if you never told her though, you should have told him you couldnt and maybe suggested that your friend would like to go with him. whats more important to you....keeping a friend or getting a date?
