Pugs are very affectionate little people. Make sure you spend quality time with them.
They are also prone to weight problems because they are food mongers. Keep them on a strict diet, use either the raw diet or dog food for weight control, no table food, no snacks or treats. or if you have to treat while training, use Cheerios, but only a few. They are prone to hip dysplasia and weight becomes a huge issue.
They are also very sensitive to anesthesia because of their short muzzles. They can be easily overdosed and never wake up if you have a vet not familiar with them. Talk to other pug owners or pug breeders and find a knowledgeable vet, it could mean life or death for your new family member.
They are also very heavy shedders. We use this Wonderful nutritional product that helps with shedding, skin allergies, shedding, skin conditions, itchiness, shedding hot spots, digestive problems, and the list goes on and on, did I mention shedding?!! And the product is guaranteed.
The website is www.dinovite.com
The product says it may take up to 30 days before you see a difference, but we saw a remarkable difference in a matter of days.
Join a pug group in your area if they have one. Most large cities do because pugs are so very popular.
I hope you like being center of attention as well, if not get used to it. Pugs will attract all kinds, from young to old, fat to skinny, pretty to ugly, seems everyone loves pugs!
