Ok personally this is a really scary and akward situation. Tell them, I'm sure you've heard this but, I love you too but, if we break up after going out and I'd hate that. And don't take any of that "We'll be friends after!!!" crap!!!

Well, this is sad, but I've actually been through this with 3 different guys. I'd known the first one the longest though, since we were 4 and 5.
I actually went through with it, though I was pretty reluctant at first. It was great for awhile , and I loved that I didn't have to get to know him, and that he knew just what to do to make me happy. But at the same time, he knew exactly what to do to break my heart.
It somewhat ruined the friendship and for the longest time we didn't talk at all because it was painful on my part and uber uncomfortable. Right now, we're back to being friends but that's only because we are who we are, not everyone is that fortunate.
I don't know about your relationship with your friend, but I was lucky. I got to keep my best friend even after we tried out the relationship. Some people aren't so lucky.
But if you think really love him, and you don't want to loose him to the next girl, then I say: go for it.
You only get one life to live.

Reach truthfully. I would express my reciprocation if I felt the same way. Or I would be supportive of their feelings, but express that an interest cannot build because of the status of the friendship. Women and men are NEVER best friends unless the guy is gay. If a man is around a woman, it's because he is interested.

depends.
how do you feel about him?
the same? or he's he just a friend to you?
either way he expressed how he felt and im sure that took a lot. so either way be sensitive to his feelings. if you do-tell him. if not just say i dont think i see you like that. youve been there for me but my love for you is like a brother-sister love.
hope i helped!

That happened to me.If you two are truely "Best Friends", well, there is not a better person in the world to marry. My wife and I have been married now for ten years and every year gets better.
