Since when is spirituality exclusive to Christianity. Spirituality isn't even exclusive to religious people.
I have read the bible, and I could quote from the bible till the cows come home but I am an Atheist. I have also studied the Koran, the Torah and other religious texts. And you can't oppose something that doesn't exist.

It is not Christ that some appose it is the misconstrued things added and subtracted and mistranslated that make many non believers. I believe in Christ but I was graciously able to see between the lines. For example Christ never said anything for slavery. Yet Paul was for it and animal slaughter and so many wrong things. That is because he never even met Christ. So he should say nothing. If you want the original New testament before king Constantine misconstrued things. go to gospelofthenazirenes.c For sincere Christians only.

They want everyone to think they are smart, they may have read but obviously did not understand it, perhaps it is the simplicity of it that goes over their heads, perhaps they didn't want to believe to begin with or perhaps they forgot to pray for understanding while reading it. The Atheists who say they are ex-Christians are liars they were never Christian to begin with and never knew Jesus at all.

Maybe the veil hasn't been lifted. Also, a lot of people love to say that they've read the Bible when they may have actually only read a few pages.

I think what you are equating to illiterate is not believing. I know the bible very well, as with other religious documents. I just do not believe them,
Understanding the bible and believing it are two very different things.

So we are not stupid, we just lack some "gift" of spirit you have that magically allows you to see a logically inconsistent and absurdity filled book as true. Supporting one unsound belief with unverifiable powers is not going to help you.
