Tough to say. Peoples beliefs are whats keeping them going. And saying when America is destroyed is almost like sticking your head in the sand. When America is destroyed they will find someone else to go after.
It would be difficult to stop someone that is basing terrorism on religion, and as long as countries have people in a position of power that supports terrorism then it will continue.

I would said, until they attack the other countries that turn a blind eye to them. Then maybe they will unite and go after the extremist bunch that include the non extremist muslims to join the rest of the world against them.

Its not that simple. This isn't the cold war with the threat eminated from a large superpower and several easily identifiable developing nations. The terrorists groups are everywhere, most likely even in our own backyard. With technology you cannot simply trace terrorists to a nation-state. This is Iraq is so hotly contested. Terrorism did not simply come from there.

We were getting the terrorists in Afghanistan but then we pulled out of there to go to war with a country that had neither terrorists nor WMDs. We could, more than likely, have mopped up quite a few terrorists if we would have stayed in Afghanistan. The whole world was on our side until we occupied Iraq.
Nobody says much about the war on terror anymore. Its all about Iraq, Iraq, Iraq. Bush says if we pull out of Iraq, the terrorists will come here. Why don't we go back to Afghanistan and finish that up. Its my guess they would follow us there. Iraq can finish their civil war on their own.

Once we come to the conclusion that the UN. stands for , Organized crime.
The UN stands in the way of freedom and the right to speech and religion for more countries than belong to it.
Pay offs from dictators who torture there citizens gets them on the human rights board.
and the dictators turn their heads as the UN peace forces go on whole village raping sprees.

just as soon as there is enough economic consideration to make it profitable or at a time that the government needs a smoke screen to avert public attention away from something they do not want us to see that is probally illegal, unethical or immoral but the profit outweighs the risk of being exposed to doing anything wrong or that would anger the American people to the point of objection and change of leadership.

When the U.S. changes its foreign policy. Stop trying to solve other cultures/societies problems.
My suggestion is to cut those areas off and stand back and wait for the dust to settle.
