The last time I checked, This category is religion and spiritualism. Why are so many atheists here if you are neither? It's sad that this is the only forum you folks can find to yak with each other. Are you not comfortable in your own skin? Why must you drive spiritual people away from this forum?

Nobody is trying to drive anybody away from this forum. If you had looked at the answers given to the other 1000 people that have asked this question in the past week, you'd see that there are a multitude of reasons that atheists are here. First, this is an open forum. Anyone who wants to be here can be here. Second, religion is something that affects atheists lives. It affects our lives VERY strongly, so we have a right to be here discussing it, and WHY it affects our lives so strongly. Third, a lot of people of MANY religions enjoy coming here to discuss, and to even sometimes debate issues. How interesting or educational would this forum be if you only have people here who all have the same view point?
Question: Do you love Jesus?
Answer: Yes!
Answer: Yes!
Answer: Yes!
And for the record, we are perfectly comfortable in our own skins. If spiritual people are being driven away because atheists are here talking, then maybe THEY'RE the ones who are not comfortable in their own skins.

Yet again, the same question that has been asked so many times before. Are you new here?

Look at it this way. One does not have to be suffering from AIDS to be interested in how to cure it. One does not have to be suffering from the delusion of religion to be interested in discussing that part of the human psyche with the enlightened (the atheists) and the sufferers (those with terminal religion). Sadly, however, while an AIDS cure is on the horizon, religion will cause so much suffering around the world for some time to come, as talking logic, reason and common sense to misguided religious folk is much like administering medical assistance to the dead.
Further, what do you think this category would be like if atheists didn't offer their wisdom on a regular basis? I suggest that it would be full of prayer suggestions and blessings and suchlike, with there being no sensible debate at all. How boring that would be. As it is, there is so little mature debate emanating from the religious here, mainly scripture quotes, the usual uninformed responses, the mass of poorly-constructed answers to searching questions, requests for help in prayer (pointless of course) - and so on.
In a forum, there needs to be two opposing sides to each issue. You want it to be just one? A one-sided argument? Well now, wouldn't that be just fine and dandy?
You see how reality eludes you?

hey believers, the last time I checked, This category is religion and spiritualism. Why are so many believers here if you are asking questions about neither topics? It's sad that this is the only forum you can both convert and demean anyone's religion other than your own. Are you not comfortable in your own skin? Why must you drive anyone different from you away from this forum?

Why do Christians have to keep asking this question?

Atheists are here to offer a different opinion on matters. I am not gay, does that mean I can't comment on gay-related questions? I am not an apple, does that mean I can't answer any questions about apples?

It seems that Christians must have weak beliefs if reading someone saying that God does not exist "drives" them away from this forum. I've not heard of an Atheist leaving because a Christian said "God is real".

Plus I have a real interest in religion, I studied it for four years. Why wouldn't I like to discuss that interest?

Check again, it's religion and SPIRITUALITY. There's a big difference between spirituality and spiritual-ISM.Atheism, as I have explained in the past, IS concerned with religion and spirituality even though it is not a religion itself. It is most certainly a spiritual philosophy, the philosophy of a lack of religion or spirituality. Thereby qualifying to be placed here, in Religion and Spirituality. Atheists are entitled to be here, just like anybody else.

I'm not an Atheist by the way, just someone with common sense.

Have you noticed that the R&S section is under the broader category of Society & Culture? I am very interested in how religion impacts the society & culture that I live in. That is why I am here.

When Christians in the U.S. stop trying to weaken the 1st Amendment's separation of church & state, and stop trying to corrupt the teaching of science in public schools, I'll probably lose interest in this forum. Until then, I'm going to exercise my right to freedom of speech here.

Atheists are insecure and searching for ways to build up their self esteem, so they look for Christians to harass and annoy Atheists self esteem is based on their own limited abilities rather than the peace that Christians have because of their faith in a God with unlimited power.

Do people really need to see the same question over and over. I know for a fact when you start writing a question it tells you how many of the same or extremely similar ones have been posted before yours. Sometimes I think this and Pascal's Wager questions are the only ones some people can think of.

Ummm. I went to the Wrestling section (under sports) but unfortunately I'm NOT a wrestler. I did it because of freedom. You can do things like that. Do you have to stay in set categories? I didn't know that. Is this like Nazi Germany now, with the rules?

And also sometimes really amusing questions are posted here.
