I have tried before... I would find cool looking stuff at garage sales and put them up on Ebay. But they wouldn't sell. I hear that people are making money re-selling baby clothes... does anyone have real experience in making Ebay work for them? I have 2 kids under 3, and am looking to enhance our income.

Hi – I am an established seller on eBay. eBay has been my full time job for 4 years, and I have sold over 12,000 items.

To answer your question, I would need about 100 pages of space! I have found all kinds of things at garage sales and resold them on eBay for a profit. I went to a sale once where a thirty-something couple just got married, they already had two of everything, and then they got more items as wedding gifts. Alot of the items were new in the box. For example, I have found:

George Foreman grill (new in box)
Mary Kay cosmetics (new - the rep quit her business)
Brand new clothing with tags
100% cashmere overcoat (paid $20 and it sold on eBay for $160)
Justin lizard skin cowboy boots (bought them for $5 and they sold for $98)
Hooked on phonics set (bought for $10 and sold for $68)

I could give you examples all day. Garage sale shopping for profit is fun and interesting. You never know what you will find!

Please email me directly and I can share more information with you.

Regards-

I agree with everyone who said maternity. I have bought and sold alot of maternity on Ebay. I also bought a pregnant manequin. Put the clothes on and take some great pictures and your stuff will really sell well. I had a lot of 5 shirts sell for over $50.00 recently. Its worth the extra effort you put into it. I am planning on reselling all my maternity items on ebay when fall comes around. Should be interesting to see how much money can be made back.

Baby clothes are nearly worthless on eBay.

I do maternity clothes mostly. I've been able to find name brand maternity clothes in like-new condition at yard sales for about a buck each and resell them on eBay. I also scour my local stores for the mega clearance stuff when seasons change. Just a couple of weeks ago I was at JCPenney and they had brand new Duo Maternity clothes for 97 cents each!!! (retail price $26 each). I'll have to hold onto them until fall, but I should get $5-10 each for them on eBay.

Just do your research by looking at tons of eBay auctions to find your specialty niche.

And make sure that you include any eBay fees into your shipping and handling charges to maximize your profits.

I am a current ebay powerseller. I have done ebay over the years as a living. I have attended many seminars and rubbed elbows with Pierre Omidyar (founder of ebay) . At first I started selling stuff around the house, then I went to thrift stores (the profit is not so good) . The best luck I have had is with my current provider of the last few years. I wish you the best. Email me for support. Please visit my provider at http://minorurl.com/5d

Board games go over big. Especially older ones like Operation, Mousetrap, etc. For some reason, Hawian Hula
Dolls sell good. Computer software, even older outdated stuff.

Recent books (mostly text books) do well and so do maternity clothes. It really all depends. It is kind of a hit and miss kind of thing. Some things sell well and others don't, for no apparent reason. but keep at it because it really is a great idea!

I think that baby clothes can do well, just make sure you are buying name brand things. I also think that if you get them for cheap enough and sell them as lots, and not just one piece at a time, you can make money with them. Good Luck.
