The South would have won, and it would be two different entities of the North and the South. Slavery would have gradually disappeared from the South on a gradual basis, and the two seperate cultures and regions would have stayed that.

The outcome would have been the same, it would just have taken quite a bit longer.
The South did not have an industrial power to compensate for the North's ability to make war, and bring it!
Lee would have advanced towards Washington D. C.; and Sherman would have come a runnin' by rail and sea. The Federals would have just had to hang on and then the fight would have been not only for Washington; but for Richmond.
Grant, having defeated the Confederates at Vicksburg, would have been free to choose his next engagement; probably heading for Atlanta.

The British would most likely have recognized the South and the anti-war element in the north would've had the upper hand forcing Lincoln to sue for pease...at least that's what Lee was hoping for.

the question is completely moot.
lee and the army of northern virginia did not win this long ago battle.
and in losing, lee lost any chance of victory.
lee had made bold move after bold move, defying the odds, but in gettysburg he played one risk card too many.
the south was vastly overmatched from the beginning and lee basically worked magic with what he had to work with.
but by invading northern soil, he bit off way more than the confederacy could ever hope to chew...

The south would have had slaves for a few more years, but is did not turn out that way.
It is just too bad that Lincoln didn't deport all the traitors in the south. America has had them festering here ever since & they continue to screw up this nation.

I''m not really sure but slavery would have been abolished at some point. Even if it would have been later when modern machinery was developed and we didn't need the manual labor. Maybe in later days we wouldn't have had to have a war over it.

The Democrats in congress would say screw it, we lost, stopped funding the war and demanded that President Lincoln bring the troops back home.

His men would have gotten their shoes. Then the South would have won their independence and it would have been a much better place today.
