Why do they say that even though it sounds retarded? Who started it?
I hear that in movies sometimes.

"What do you got" does not mean anything to me...
It is possibly a generation gap, as I am in my 30es now,
is there a mistake in the sentence or can anyone explain it to me, too??

"Sounding retarded", and I really hate that expression because of its connotation, is not and should not be a criteria for self expression. The main focus is 'Do you understand what is being expressed in the statement?'
Regardless of how you feel about that phrase, I'll bet that you understand what is being said. That is really what's important.
