If the columns are attached to the subfloor in any way, you'll have to go around them. Laminate requires a 1/4" expansion gap around all obstructions. I have installed laminate under kitchen islands and columns before but no screws or fasteners can go through the laminate or it won't be floating anymore. If your pillars are only decorative and not very heavy you may be able to go under them, attaching them to the laminate with very short screws that will not go through the laminate and into the subfloor. I really don't recommend this (nor the manufacturer) but if you want to avoid having large holes in your floor it's your only hope. You could hide the screw holes if ever needed with laminate filler putty.

Well if you install the flooring around the bottom of the columns it will make the base of the column appear smaller and depending on the column design that could make the column either look very odd or may not make a difference at all. If you place the flooring around it you will also need to place the quarter round to conceal the edges of the flooring. That could result in close to one inch of height being hidden at the base of the column. If there is a large base on the column that isn't a problem. If there is only an inch or two then it could make the column look very inadequate.

Under if possible but if there load bearing columns Dont mess with them ans just laminate around them and use Quarter round around the column to hides any imperfections

Flooring installers cut around and use a shoe mold to cover any gaps. It really depends on whether or not you will ever remove the cols. If so it will leave the hole.

if wood lay around them and box them in with shoe molding.....if round they should have a base collar u can lift up and run flooring to column and then lower base collar to cover the wood cuts...

do not lay under...the floor has to be able to move and this could void the warranty.....
