No; you don't cook on Saturdays. What you do however like I do is prepare your normal meal for Friday and cook another meal seperate from that for the Sabbath Saturday.
This is what I and my family do on Saturdays:
For Breakfast: We eat oatmeal or my kids eat cereal with orange juice(you can have toast too; if you want).
For Lunch: You can have sandwiches(can be already prepared or you can make it if it doesn't take too much time) and a salad (which can be prepared on Friday too).
For Dinner: You can warm up the meal you prepared on Friday with some fresh fruit nearby or fruit salad that's already been prepared Friday.
Sabbath supposed to be devoted to God and there should be less work possible so you can devote yourself and your family to God. If it takes much time; then it's considered to be work.

Of course it is!Did'nt Jesus heal on the Sabbath?Remember this is just a man made law. But,anyhow, how will your family be able to give praise to God if they are feeling hungry and grumpy?Come on,if Jesus did'nt let the ill go unhealed on a Sabbath, you should'nt allow you family to go hungry!Where in the Bible did Jesus say we should all be paralysed on a Sabbath? On the contrary,He challenged this belief of the Pharisees and encouraged us to go out and do the good work of the Kingdom! But if that's your attitude then here's a whole lot of things we would be forbidden to do on the Sabbath...
We would not be allowed to get up in the mornings,
get dressed or wash ourselves,
make the bed or do your hair,
open curtains or put on the kettle.
No pouring a glass of water,
no unpeeling an orange,
no walking into the garage
and then driving to church.
And,of-course,no listening to the sermon---that's working your ears AND your brain!
But I'm assuming that you get up on a Sabbath, and of-course you don't go to church, unwashed,in your pajamas, hair wild, leaving the bed un-made and the curtains still closed. And you do listen to the sermon,do'nt you?
Well, then you are already working too much on a Sabbath!
And,of-course,if a beggar asks you for a sandwich, you must never make him one, just send him away though he's starving.Never talk to a friend about Christ 'cos that's work.If your child grazes her knee,do'nt wash the wound and bandage it--that's WORK!
Honey,it's just not Christ's style to refuse to work on the Sabbath when there is so much work to be done to futher the Kingdom of God.Did'nt the pharisees challenge Jesus for healing on a Sabbath? His reply--if a calf should fall into a pit, will you not save it?Well, how much more than a calf is a person worth!
Think about it:
What would Jesus be doing on a Sabbath?
Answer?
He'd be out there healing the diseased and the demon-possesed,and spreading the Good News.
a.k.a.--WORKING!

Yes. The Jews fast on the Sabbath, but there is no requirement in Christianity to fast on the Sabbath. Man was not created for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was created for man. Man came before the Sabbath; therefore, the requirements of humans have priority before the Sabbath. the Body must be nourished and cared for. It is not reasonable nor wise to expect children to fast for 24 hours.

The commandments say to remember the sabbath to keep it holy. Do you recognize that God rested on the sabbath? Then you're okay. Some people take things to the extreme, but it is a matter of choice.

The one person I know who observes the Sabbath completely does all her cooking before the Sabbath, and everyone eats what was prepared on Friday before sundown.

Family is the True Church, within a democratic society. Love rules there. The Lord rested on the Sabbath.
Stay home and cook for your family, play some music, do whatever youse want.
The Lord dwells with mankind, not in an empty building where no-one lives. Go home to your families, the Lord will join you.
(He is not there, He has Risen.)

of course. One should not do any needless labor. I would say cooking is not needless. Anything that can be done the night before though is probably a good idea.

Well, I'm not sure, but I don't think Jesus would want you to starve on His Day. He wants you to be Happy and, relaxed and ready to praise him. Not woozy because of hunger. If I'm wrong... you could always eat jelly donuts! Oh, that's stupid, you could always cook the day before.
