For those who say homosexuality is a choice, then what are your opinions on these:
1. Many homosexuals are ridiculed, made fun of, and even physically injured by those who disapprove. If it was a choice, why would you want to experiene these things?
2. Some homosexuals commit suicide because they are not accepted. Why would someone commit suicide if they can just choose to be straight?
3. Homosexuality is not about sex. It's about attraction. You can be homosexual AND a virgin, just like you can be straight and a virgin. You can be homosexual and be afraid of sex or not want to partake in sex, just like straight people. So do you believe that you (a straight person) could be homosexual tomorrow, if it's a choice? How would you force yourself to be attracted to someone of your own sex?
(I am not homosexual however, another question sparked this one)

Why is everyone avoiding the question?
Especially the third one. How would you go about becoming attracted to people of the same sex?

For those who compare it to alcohol and drugs, I don't think the comparison is the same. Alcohol and drugs actually have components that make the person crave it more. For sex (hetero or homosexual), there is nothing addictive ingested into the body to make you want more. You can control the urge to have sex better than the urge to quit smoking.

Good point. It is not, sexual fantasies, love and attraction are no more choosen than the color of you're eyes. Whether one decides to live according to their trueselves or to live a lie or do nothing is a choice.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

I think you made some good points, and I agree. After reading some of these answers....I just had to respond and say that it truly worries me that there are people walking around out there with that much hate inside.
Brainwashing, mental disorder, comparing them to child molesters......Calm down people.

maybe its more like a bad habit ... its a choice but yet its not ... theres somthing spiritually wrong that traps the individual into that .. i think its been established that neither science nor logical thinking backs up the "born that way" theory .. it doesnt fit in with evolution ... which leaves three things then ... either its a spiritual problem and sin ... or theres some man-made factor in the environment thats causing it ... or it is an aquired taste and a psychological thing that is in fact a choice of the individual ...

I stopped posting questions like this a while ago, because most of the "good christian" answers made me feel dirty just being on the same planet as those "good christian" people

1. People are judgmental, and evil
2. People commit suicide because they are in a great deal of pain, they need love, the love of God.
3. Homosexuality, is about Sex, it is a deviant behavior, to those who love sex, it's about lust, and controlling it, it is just as hard for an overly sexual person to control their lustful thoughts , and behavior, as it is for a pathological lier to stop lying, hard, but with God, all things are possible, for those who believe, and put their trust and faith in him.

homosexuality is a mental disorder
the so called homophobes are ridiculed on media
the homophobes are discipled in school
but there is not a wave of homophobes committing suicide
that should raise some questions about gay's mental health
and
it is easier to break a normal straight than to heal a broken straight
the same with breaking a vase compared with joining pieces of a broken vase to make another vase

How come no one ever listens to ex-homosexuals about their experience? It's like people don't want to believe they exist, but they are real, they are healed, and they deserve to be heard.

They are brainwashed into thinking that they have no choice.
I suggest this website for insights into why people become homosexual and why they have a choice to identify themselves by their relationship with God instead of by the bondage of fleshly lusts:
