Why is it that when it comes to wondering why we have war, and why we can't just talk it out we're called "childish". Is it so childish that we want to know why we can't settle things like we were raised too, that we can solve things in better way than starting a resource wasting, person killing, time enduring war? If that's case, shouldn't we all just be a little childish? If this is somthing so big, so horrible that we can't talk it out or settle it without killing one another? The reason or answer may be too complicated to explain or answer, but I dought what I'm thinking should be deemed as childish. What's your opinion on all this?

I wish it were that easy. People like Saddam are crazy and do not have the mental capacity to think like a rational person. The same thing with Hitler. They are mentally ill and they never got the help that they needed. They just bulldoze everyone in their path and then it is up to the US to try to make things right (but Bush is taking it too far I think)

You're not being childish. You ask a very heartfelt question to a very complex problem.

What it boils down to is not everyone is taught to resolve their differences with talking. Like the school bully no one can talk out of picking a fight over "nothing", there are some people who will always try and use violence to get their way. Luckily, there are also some of us who, while not looking for a fight, are willing to stand up to the bully to try and stop him.

Just remember, you cannot reason with unreasonable people. When an unreasonable country tries to build up it's arms, menace it's neighbnors, or threatens to do others harm someone needs to try and stop them. Talks should always happen first. War should only be a last resort. Again, not everyone is taught this seeming simple concept, and cannot even "agree to disagree".

Not childish but childlike, peace-loving.

Ever notice on how much simpler a child's life is compared to an adult's? A child does not complicate her/his life with mind games. A child lives to have good friends and good fun.

I think childish is used in place of naive. I think it is just naive to assume all sides are willing to settle and compromise for peace. When your opposition is committed to their cause to the point of suicide and internal destruction there is little hope of negotiation.

You're not childish, but you are naive. That's not the way the world works. I was idealistic like you at one time.
