Anytime someone seems weaker than another person, unless they have been taught to do differently, they will attack the people who seem dumber than themselves. This is the nature of mankind. However, if others have been taught that a person should not take advantage of the unfortunate( learning disabilities) then they will treat these people with respect and caring. it all depends on how children have been taught on how to act in different situations.
Just ignore those who mistreat you. Eventually they will get the message and will go away. Some people like to be noticed. And if a situation gets too bad, then you should tell an authority you are being abused. Let them deal with the situation.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are just very ignorant. I've heard people say things like "oh, they are just pretending they have a disability to get extra time on their test", etc. They don't believe that that it's not the person's fault, or lack of discipline. Really, the only thing that will change this attitude is education, and trying to raise learning disability awareness.

I don't know of anyone who is but my bet is because that person thinks themselves as being better than the person with the disability when in reality it's the person who thinks they have no disability that really is the disability - no one is better than anyone else and I am of the belief that unless a person knows all there is to know, then we all have a learning disability of sorts. There are some who are just mean and cruel but they will get their just rewards some day.

People are mean to others with learning disabilites or any type of disabilite because they are insecur about them selves so they have to pick on some one who has no choice but to deal with the problem they have they think it makes them look cool but in reality it makes them look like a looser because in reality the person who has the disability is the better person

I think it's because they do not understand!
I work in a public elementary school with mentally and physically delayed children.
I see the others gauk at these children and sometimes
laugh at them when they outburst for some unknown
reason.
I wish we could educate the public more on there behaviors. This IS a serious problem and the public needs to
be educated on this
THANKS
for reqonizings this.

because of the fact regrettably they're seen as an common objective for abuse. i'm disabled and became bullied and teased in college until I found out to combat back - confusing! They left me on my own after that. nonetheless hate those accountable, they made my life hell.

Either they don't realize the person has a disability or they're just insensitive jerks.

People tend to be fearful of things that are different, or which they don't understand. Unfortunately some people deal with fear by being mean and/or nasty to whoever it is that they don't understand. It's not right!

To show off their superiority over others however they only show their insecurities imo. It's rather silly and I don't think we get to choose to have dyslexia and other things...
