It might cause rebound insomnia when you stop taking it. The active ingredient in Tylenol PM is just benadryl, so why not get generic benadryl to take every night? The only thing that could possibly harm you is the contant flow of Tylenol. I'd go with straight benedryl at night - two 25mg capsules of benadryl equal two Tylenol PM

It shouldn't hurt you, as long as you aren't a heavy alcohol drinker (tylenol is rough on the liver) and as long as you make sure you don't take any meds that are contraindicated with the tylenol and benadryl, which is what Tylenol PM is.
Are you having pain and that's why you take the tylenol? If not, you ought to just get some generic benadryl and take a dose of that at bedtime, if you really need something. It would be cheaper and better for you than taking tylenol for no reason. You could also try taking a lower dose of the benadryl and see if it works for sleep.
Some people feel they become addicted to Tylenol PM because they can't seem to sleep without it. I don't know if that's an actual physiological addiction or a mental one.

I do not how old are but you are on the wrong path. One should never be dependent on drugs unless your body has a physical problem.
I have battle sleepiness since I was a teen -ager ....
Item: What is your diet ? You might be susceptible to food allergies , some people are extremely sensitive to caffeine
item : You do not fall asleep because of your mind keeping you awake with thought and mind chatter?
Do you fall asleep and then wake up and cannot get to sleep?
Have you fallen into a psychological routine such as some people have of saying prayers or taking a warm bath?
Therefore you must first must identify why you started in taking medicine. If you are young eventually you will change your
sleeping habit . You know, some people do not need a lot of sleep and if you are like that maybe you can use the time to do something boring. That was actually my solution I went to the library and got some boring audiotapes and it has been working like a charm !!
Get off the medication.

Taking sleep medication can get your body dependent on help to sleep. You definitely need to watch the amount of Tylenol you take in a 24 hour period. Can cause kidney and liver problems. Why don't you try other methods to try and get to sleep, it may help. Good Luck

Taking a pain reliever when you don't need it damages your liver.(It does damage it when you NEED the pain reliever, but why take it when all you need is sleep?)
Tylenol makes Simply Sleep, nothing but sleep aid.
If this has been going on for three years, why not see a dr? They will prescribe something just for sleep, or get to the bottom of why you have been having trouble for three years!

The web site below talks a bit about Tylenol possible (rare) side effects, the biggest of which is liver damage. But it is rare and usually only associated with high dosages.
