A psychologist is a PhD and a psychiatrist is an MD, so obviously an MD makes the most. Choose for what, a profession or for professional services.
As a profession, a psychologist takes less time in college than MD, obviously. A psychologist is a counselor with a great deal of education but cannot prescribe medication. A psychologist can have a variety of education where a psychiatrist is an MD who then specialized for several years in psychiatry. Most psychiatrists do minor counseling but usually partner with a psychologist for the major counseling,
then concentrate on the medications and impact of those medications.
If I had my choice and I worked in the field of MH for 30 years, I would decide how long I wanted to school and that would make the decision.

A psychologist has a doctoral degree in psychology (PsyD or PhD) and many times works in association with a psychiatrist, an MD with a specialization in prescribing psychotropic medications and other methods to treat mental disorders. Psychologists do psychological testing and therapy that involves helping people change their moods and behaviors. Much of the time, the patients see a psychiatrist, for medication management and a psychologist for testing and non-medication treatment. Many times, a psychiatrist will refer patients to the psychologist for testing to evaluate the problems that the patient is having, and often they refer for "talk therapy" in association with the medications that the patient is taking. Often, psychologists refer patients to psychiatrists for an evaluation for medications.
In some states, clinical psychologists can prescribe medications under the supervision of a psychiatrist and after having taken classes in Psychopharmacology.
Psychiatrists often make more money because they have MDs, but it depends upon how much a psychologist is willing to work, how good his/her skills are, and whether s/he can obtain good contracts with insurance companies. Sometimes psychologists make as much as psychiatrists.
It a not question of which one to choose for many people because they see either or both depending upon their disorder. People with more severe psychiatric disorders almost always see both a psychiatrist and a psychologist or a therapist with a Masters degree. Psychologists do psych testing and neuropsychological evaluations in addition to clinical treatment; most LCSWs are not trained or qualified to do psych testing. Basically, I can't stand the sight of blood, physical injuries, and sickness enough to go to medical school, so I opted to become a clinical psychologist instead.

Psychiatrists can prescribe medication. I would choose psychologist. A psytchiatrist probably makes more money. Considering they are doctors and go to medical school.

A psychologist is does talk therapy.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who prescribes medication for mental illness and most often does the diagnosis.
I don't know who makes more money, but I'm more interested in the medical/biological area than pure psychology.

One of my degree is in psychology. They both make good money. Psychologist can only give you advices listen to you and help you to open up adn find out how you can help your self, but he or she can not give any one any medications. A psychiatriste is much more qualified and can prescribe medications but does not have time to listen...lol

psychologist is not a MD. Don't know about the money. I'd (meaning me, personally) go with the psychiatrist.

A psychologist talks to you, administer therapies such as relaxation, hypnosis and such.
A psychiatric is a medical doctor who knows the brain a lot, administer drugs/medication and gives you physiological treatment more than psychology treatment.
They can both make a lot.

Psychologist treat with threapy no medication.
Physchiatris treat with medication and send you to a threapist. The Physchiatris makes more money because their treatment is more intense and they are doctors with their degrees.
