Anyone go on Prozac and develop memory problems?

I have been on the stuff for 9 months and it seems that my memory has become worse, like to the point where I can't remember an idea I had 5 seconds ago. Also, since being on this stuff I feel like more of a zombie, (I seem to be doing more staring into space or staring at the floor, things like that). Anyone have these experiences, or any advice?

If you are experiencing "zombie" like symptoms, the dosage may be to high, or prozac just isn't the right medication for you. That shouldn't be happening. As far as the memory loss, remember antidepressants slow down your thought process. Not to the degree of not remembering what you did 5 minutes earlier. I describe it as feeling like it made me a little dingy. I used to be able to remember phone numbers, and addresses, I never had to make grocery lists. Now, if I don't right things down, thats it they are just gone. That's normal on those meds because they keep you from obsessive thinking. Talk to your doctor about what you are feeling. Write it down so you don't forget to tell him anything. He'll be able to help you. Good Luck.

See if they can try a different antidepressent on you. It took a few changes, but the one that works for me is Cymbalta. For one of my friends she does best on zoloft or wellbutrin. Someone else I know does well on Paxil. Sometimes you have to be a bit of a guinea pig to find the med that has the least side effects .
And yes, memory loss and "zombiness" can be a side effect, which is why u should see if your doc will wean you off the prozac and try u on a med that u do better with you.

i told my doctor i felt tired all the time so he prescribed 20mg of prozac once a day in the morning after 3 months i told him i still feel tired so he raised the dose to 40 mg after about 3 months i told him i don't feel any better so i discontinued use. but it never effected my memory in any way or make me feel like a zombie
