The step kid- Booger eater. My son (now 3) is starting to ask if he can eat his. Absolutely not!! Just wondering the reasoning why kids think boogers make such a great snack.

Sometimes kids just go through a phase eating their booger, eventhoug it seems very nasty to you (me too) its just what some kids just do. Its a phase, and if you pull their finger out of their nose, catch the booger on their finger and wipe it with a tissue, tell him its yucky germs then he will eventually stop.

I hate to admit this, but when I was a kid, I was a booger-eater too :( It grosses me out now to think of it! I remember it was kind of salty. But I have no idea WHY the thought to put them in my mouth ever came to be!

But hey, my mom used to yell at me for it, so I did it when she wasn't looking (just like sucking my thumb). I ended up stopping both around 5 yrs. old, in my own time.

kids are interested in their bodies at that age. since boogers are made of sugars and protein, they are healthier than most store bought snacks. don't make an issue of it and he'll eventually stop.

Little kids eat ANY damn thing. They eat crayons. They eat paste. They eat DIRT for heaven's sake. They swallow every damn thing because they have a very primitive means of investigating the world around them, which consists of tasting everything.

Just tell them that eating their own snot is like eating dirt, because our nostrils form mucus around bits of inhaled dirt and debris to keep it from reaching delicate respiratory membranes in our sinuses and lungs. Or just tell them it's yucky and disgusting and nice people don't do that.

I don't know, but I can't tell you how many times I've told my 3 year old how disgusting it is to eat his boogers, just to have him retort "It's not disgusting, it tastes good." Ahhh!!!!

My son is 8 and is still doing it. I think it just has turned into a habit. At least he is not doing it in school.

I think it's because after they pick their nose, they cant think of any place to put them so they just make it disappear by eating it! I never ate em, I just put them under a nearby table.
