Hello dear, "7abibi" literally translated into English means "dear", " beloved" and bear in mind that it 's usage is only to male and it implies that you have feelings toward the man ( or he is your boyfriend, husband, beloved).
"7abibti" is used toward a female and you can use it freely when refer to your close female friends or just want to emphasize your warm feelings. So it is not as limited as "7abibi".
The root of the words comes from the Arabic word "7ob" (hob), meaning "love".
In Arabic If you want to refer to a man with "dear", you could use "3azeezi" /a'azi:zi/.
* I write with the typical signs "7" and "3", widely used by native Arabic speakers, as "7" sound is pronunced deeply into the throat, for example like in "7amas" ( hamas, enthusiasm), "7anan" ( hanan, tenderness), etc.
Hope that helps!
Wish you luck!

it depends on the origin of the people you are saying it to. For example, Lebanese use habibi both for men and women. Jordanians say habibi to men and habibti to women, and Syrians say habeeb to men and habibi to women.
