Had the 04 nissan xterra, traded it for murano after 4 months. I luv the new design of the xterra especially since it has more of the guy look than the murano. Is there a big improvement from the 04 xterra to the 07? should I wait for the 08'?

The difference between the 04 and 07 Xterra is huge. I have an 04 V6 and have test driven an 06 (same as 07). Power and performance is much better in the second generation Xterras (180hp V6 vs. 261hp V6.), which has the VQ series engine, (the 04 has the VG series). The new Xterra also has a fully boxed ladder frame (a modified version of the the F-Alpha Titan truck frame), making it more rigid and a better offroad vehicle with a better front suspension over the 04. The 07 also comes in the Off Road package which is good if thats what you intend to do. Overall it's a much better buy; it has a more aggressive stance and look, a much more powerful engine, it also has variable valve timing (which will give you better performance and fuel economy, the 04 does not). For the 07 you can get a rear locking diff, with the OF package and a Dana axle if you choose the manual. Overall it is a much better vehicle than the 04 and earlier models. The 08 version of the Xterra will probably be the exact same as the 07, but with minor adjustments. You should also look at a Crew Cab Frontier which is essentially a truck version of the Xterra, but has a nicer ride and a better look to it.

Yes it has allot of improvements, the 04 model was more rugged while the 07 model has a more roomier, and a more luxurious package is offered.

my brother has a 2005 and it will be alot differnt they put a speed chip in them. that is when you reach about 105 mph no matter what down hill with no gas or on flat. it cut the fuel to pulse. shaking the truck no more runing from cops.
