Someone told me, that when you sneeze your heart stops for like a fraction of a second. SO people started to say "god bless you" because you actually lived through it. I have no clue where this came from though...

Because there is a myth that when you sneeze your heart stops temporarily and saying God bless you ask God to make sure your heart beats again after wards.

Back in the Bubonic Plague days people were dying of bad colds and flu's, so the 1st sign of course is a sneeze, so they started saying god bless you

A long time ago, when you sneezed, people believed that you had a disease, so they used to say that so god blessed you, and now people still say that.

I don't know how it got started but.............
But now after a lot of research, scientists all over the world have concluded that while sneezing, the heart takes moment relaxe, which means not only in its muscular state but also in its nerve impulse, after which it dies and impossible to come alive again but you stay alive which is only possible because ALLAH (GOD) really blesses you.

some people used to believe that when you sneezed your soul was trying to escape so people started saying god bless you. on a more scientific level, your heart stops, or skips a beat, when you sneeze.

The version I heard was that in medieval times, it was felt that demons could enter a person's body when one sneezes unless countered by an immediate, "God bless you". Presumably, this utterance will somehow zap the demons through the ethers and your chest wherein they reside".

Some people used to believe that when you sneeze, your open mouth is susceptible to bad spirits entering. So, someone would say bless you to ward off those bad spirits

It originated from an old folk tale, people believed that when you sneezed, you released sins. The Germans say Gazoont Hite, which actually means Good Help, ...
