Ok I need some much needed advice...today i went to a track meet, and, forgot to put sunscreen on. Well, today was a pretty hot day and i got pretty sundburned, veryyyy badly. I have been putting Aloe Vera lotion on to stop the peeling ever since I got home which was about a couple of hours ago. Can anyone tell me if this is going to work and what would be a good way to get a good tan?? Will the lotion work? (BTW- I am very white so i reallyy need to know!!)

Owwwchy sorry you are pale so you are susceptible to skin cancer I would go see a pharmacists they know just about as much as a DR they will know how to heal that sunburn quickly, Also if you are pale you may never be able to get the tan you want, Opra had a show about people that tan yes it looks nice now but when you are about 35 you will start to look like a hag!!!!

If you got burned very badly you might have a third degree burn. That's bad news. You may need to see a doctor. If you are very fair you should know that you will only burn, and not tan.You will end up turning red and peeling without getting a tan. Plus that burned area is now many more times susceptible to skin cancer from now on. Even after it heals. If you get a fever take aspirin or something similar. Put a cold wet towel on your face to help take the burning sensation away. Aloe Vera is a surface astringent. So it ends up drying out your skin. If you need to put anything on your skin, put Polysporin Ointment on it..Nothing else.. Its good for burns and for healing.

I am also very white because i am Irish and i used to run track and xc in high school. If your skin is like a dark red almost purple youre going to want to go to your doctor because you could have some serious problems. If its just red/pink keep using aloe vera but also stop and use deep moisturizing lotions especially after you shower. Just keep drinking water to hydrate your skin too! It will hurt for another day or two, also try taking advil to reduce swelling too! But do that and don't think about it to much.

since you are very white you should know that ur skin is extr sensitive and that you should protect it very carefully.
lighter skins are always more prone to sunburn and sunspots, and frackles and age spots caused from the sun so you should definately use a lotion with hight SPF.
when u get burned u cant really do anything to avoid peeling....imagine that ur upper skin coat was"fried" and it got crispy and now its gonna peel off and fall away..
you should continue aloe vera lotions cuz its the best thing you can ue when u are burned...or even ome aloe vera gel..
but i know a really good tip....when u get burned later on in the night when u ll go to bed and it hurts and aches and burns a lot, you can apply a layer of cold yogurt...its a very relieving thing to do when u cnt sleep at night cuz of ur burn.
now, if u want to get a tan..u have to do that very very gradually...u can go outdoors to get a natural color, but always make sure u wear suncreen....after many times of exposure u will start getting a natural color without burning...
sunscreen doesnt mean that it blocks sun away...it means u are getting a safe tan without harming your skin.
good luck

Putting Aloe Vera on definitely makes it feel cooler, not as painful. . It works for me, to stop peeling, but it might not always work, it just depends. But you are going to be less likely to peel if you are consistently putting lotion on.

Keep putting the aloe on as much as you need it, try to get in a natural liquid or gel without fragrance if it bothers you.
Put it on as often as you need it. If you can wait 'til tomarrow to shower, it won't hurt as much to shower. Use cool or warm water.
I have had many sunburns, and unless you think you need to see a doctor, the aloe is the only thing that works for me.
PS If you get aloe in liquid or spray bottle, you can keep it in the fridge. It really feels good, when it's cold.

bad news...you're gonna peel. To minimize the damage drink alot of water, use LOTS of aloe vera lotion/gel, and take advil every 4 hours to help with the imflammation.

edit-try and find Aloe Vera gel with lidocaine. It helps numb it. They have it at Wal-mart and most drug stores. Its pretty cheap and worth every penny!

The Aloe Vera will work extremely well and fast. As long as it is a good brand it should do the job.
