I've always gravitated to the tomboy type. Independent and outdoorsy. The side effect is they are always vying for the upper hand, never want to be team players, are more selfish than any guy.
Now thinking back, the few girlie girls I dated hold the fondest memories. They were nice people, careing and supporive.
Should I give up looking for the independent and competent strong partner and opt for the more submissive and supportive girlie girl?

Stereotypes can be deceiving. Some tomboys can be nice and caring; some girly girls can be mean. That doesn't mean they all are one thing or another. I have multitudes of friends from all stereotypes, many of which include 'tomboys' and 'girly girls'. They are all awesome. What you really need is to find a girl with both qualities, who can be nice, caring, independent and competent at the same time.

I think it depends. I personally liked girls on the tomboy side a lot more. They were usually nicer considering it's hard to grow up being judged just by the way they would dress or the people they would hang out with. Tomboys tend to be less judgemental because they are judged so much in their day-to-day lives. Girly girls on the other hand tend to care more about their looks. They grow vain which is quite a big turnoff for me. But not all girls are like this, either way. It just depends on what's inside I guess, not what they're labeled as.

I say no Girlie girls are not always nicer, the ones I know are meaner, practically evil. Maybe there nicer to there boyfriends, but they are usually meaner to other girls and and more standoffish. But it just depends on the girls personality, you could have a tomb boy girlfriend and she could be rude and selfish but so could the girlie girl.

Go with whichever type of girl makes you happiest. It sounds to me like you really like girlie-girls better when it comes to relationships, but enjoy the fun tomboys bring to a friendship or relationship. I'd advise you to look for Miss Middle Ground. :)

Not true not even close...it depends on the person...but i think tomboys are cooler (i am a tomboy) girly girls are always like 'omg i like broke a nail' and stuff like that...but as i said it depends on the person

Well my friend I would just keep dating until you find the right mix. I dont think that tom boy or girlie is the thing, i think the way they CHOOSE to act is the thing.
