No, recode refers to altering the video file. For example, the program Nero recode can transform a 8GB movie to a 4.7GB movie which fits on to a single layered DVD. Another example is transforming a movie saved in mpeg-2, the format used on DVD movies you find at your local Blockbuster, to mpeg-4 (e.g. DivX and AVI). You can recode a movie so you can download it on to an iPod.
