Start off with Sears you can only use the card at the department store you get it from except for Sears you can use at KMart too. eventually they will ask you to upgrade to their mastercard then when you get your credit built then get a regular one. Then if you hate the Sears one you can cancel that one and keep the other. The other way to build credit is buy a car and have your dad or someone cosign with you but put you as the main person so you can build the credit.

i have heard repeatedly from various people that getting a department store credit card is the best way to start your credit. Some stores only allow you to use the card with them. I know that Best Buy has to types of cards, both are provided by credit card companies. One is only good at Best Buy. The other you can use at other places because you can use it like a credit card because it will have the mastercard or visa logo. Target has a credit card that you can use at other places. I would get a credit card from a store that i like and frequent. Hopefully the interest rates will not be to high. Gas stations also offer credit cards. I have a shell card that I can only use at shell gas stations. But they do have one that you can use as a credit card anywhere.

Have you tried applying for a regular credit card? If you have and been denied go to Orchard Bank. They have a card that you put how ever much money into it as you want. Kinda like a debit card as it is already your money except it helps build your credit. Many companies though will give you a card with no credit, it will just be a low credit limit.

Start with the bank that gave you the debit card. If you have a good record of payment with them they can help you get a credit card.

they say that some store cards require you to have a credit card before getting their card...apply for a secured yearly fee card...use it for a few months to a year by that time u will be geetiing new offers with no fees... just use the card for very small purchases...keep it under 50 a month and youll be fine
