Many people say that the Bible speaks against the use of Tarot Cards. I have never seen such a verse. And since I was introduced to it as a method for self development (not of holding power over anyone) but using it to discover more about self and what has brought one to a particular point in life and the best way to deal with it...i would like to know how it is evil or could be used for evil or why people fear it...SERIOUS AND "INFORMED" RESPONSES ONLY!

There is no verse about Tarot cards in the Bible. Tarot Cards didn't even come into existence until over 1000 years after Jesus was born.

Mal 3:5 - And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

Re 21:8 - But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

So needless to say that Tarot card reading falls under the same catagory as witches, sorcery, etc... You just don't mess with that kind of stuff simply because God says not to. Hope this is helpful

Over the years, the Tarot has become associated with a great number of things which are blatantly opposed and forbidden in the Bible. Deuteronomy 18:9 says,

"When you enter the land the Lord your God has given you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire. Who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft or casts spells. Or who is a medium or spiritualist or one who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices, the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so."

I have been searching the internet concerning tarot cards, and I dont think the Bible teaches about this. I believe the tarot is the Devil's workshop, and as with the weegee board, I think you would do well to steer clear of the Tarot.

There isn't one directly. In I or II Samuel, God makes it very clear that He does not want His people participating in anything occult or in any divination, or in anything of that general ilk. That's where the Tarot cards come in. In the New Testament, Paul speaks strongly against all sorts of occult practices. Tarot comes under that heading.

Tarot cards were invented some time in the b.c. centuries that are like, teen-numbers, I think. (11 bc, 13 bc,14 bc, 15,etc) Meanwhile, the bible was written--what was it? Somewhere around the beginning of B.C.?

Deuteronomy 8:10-12.

There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer,  or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead.  For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you.

It is included in this list.

Try looking for "Arcana", as the two decks that make up the current set of what we today know as the "Tarot Card" deck are the:

- Minor Arcana (AKA playing cards)
- Major Arcana (used in the days of old only by those whom were not of the Book religions)

Good luck.

You won't. Tarot cards were invented in the 14th century and later became the popular deck of playing cards that you are familiar with now.
