No...You have to have a high school diploma and be 18. Once you enter basic, its 13 weeks. Once you go and take the MEAP test (this is a test that sees what area of interest and special understanding you score high in) and then you are given an MOS (the type of job you are going to have). Then off to boot camp for 13 weeks. After you Graduate, you then are sent to the school that will train you in your MOS. After that, you are given a Duty Station and you will be there in most cases 1 1/2 years, unless it is overseas, then its typically 6 months. Now, this is typically what happens. It really depends on your MOS and if you are stationed on the West coast or East coast. Sometimes you can have a choice. You will have a contract term which can be 4 to 6 years. If it is 6 years, your MOS school will be long, but again this depends on your MOS. Some Marines tend to stay in the same state for their entire enlistment, but some like to move around and jump at the chance to go to different places. If you are serious about wanting to join, you need to go to some of the Marine websites and look around and make sure this is the branch you want to go into. If you do decided to join any branch of the military, there is a 70% you will have overseas duty (Japan, Africa (HOA), Iraq, or some other country). This overseas duty can last anywhere from 6 months to 14 months. If it is on the longer side, you will be able to come back to the states for a certain amount of time and then you will go back and finish your tour of duty. Like I said before, check around on the web and in chatrooms and talk to some of the people. They will keep it real with you. Keep looking into it and you will know if the Military is right for you. good luck...

I am in the Guard. There is a program called spit program. I am a junior in High School, therefore I am doing spit program in which I will be doing basic training from May 28 to August 2. Then in the summer of my senior year, I will be doing my Advanced training.
Basic training is about 9 weeks and Advanced training is about 4 or 6 weeks.
By the way, you don't need to finish High School or be 18. You have to be 17 and a junior in High School.
Hope that helps.

You must have a HS diploma or a GED to even get into the Marines. The Marines only accepts something like 2% of its recruits from people with GEDs. You need to finish HS first, and then get into the Marines. Talk to a recruiter, because I think you can be in the DEP (delayed enlistment program) for up to 365 days before you go to boot camp, but you must have parental consent.
Good luck.

for active duty, you cannot attend Basic training until you have graduated High School. Only the Army resreves offers a split option where you go through basic inthe suummer before your senior year and your schooling after you garduate high school.

nope. Once yer in, yer in. You ain't going back for a few years. The reason they do that is very logical: You become, during Marine Corp basic, an instrument of death. You become a killing machine.
We can't have killing machines roaming thru high school gyms, now can we?

Talk to a recruiter. Basic training would be an excusable reason for a delay in starting your school year. Check it out.
