I'm 15, on my high's school's track team, and hadn't done track in 5 years. The past 3 weeks have been brutal because I was so out of shape, but instead of getting faster I was getting slower, and my knees hurt like hell. I went to the doctor and got an x-ray, and what I thought was osgood-schlatter was really tendonitis. I think it's only in my right knee, but my left one hurts a little, too. I start physical therapy on tuesday. How long do you think I'll be out? Am I gonna miss the whole season? I'm a sprinter and a jumper, so i obviously can't do those without risking a tendon tear.

I have tendonitis in my right arm- I'm only 20! It sounds really pathetic, but its actually from crocheting too much. (I need to get out more.) My doctor told me there isn't any way to make it heal faster.. the only method is time. If you're in tons of pain, you may miss the whole season. You're better off not taking the chance.

Having had tendonitis and repetitive-movement accidents ago, I can't emphasize sufficient that you just see a medical professional for this situation. He/she is going to inform you the important cures are a wrist splint, an anti inflammatory, ice for agony, and decreasing your use of the affected limbs and the pastime that is exacerbating the situation. If you employ a laptop, make specified your workspace is ergonomically equipped for you, has wrist aid, and a keyboard that's slanted. Your mouse pad too can have wrist aid. Try Microsoft's ergo keyboard, to look if it could be just right for you. I ultimately sought 2 extra cures, that proved amazing: acupuncture and bodily remedy. Acupunture stimulates vital movement to the places in agony, and likewise avoided nerve harm to my thumb. Physical remedy re-taught a few of my muscle groups to paintings in another manner than they have been accustomed, in order that I did not re-injure the nerves and muscle groups so much affected. These don't seem to be merchandise such a lot as treating the supply of the obstacle. Hope this is helping. Good good fortune!

I have chronic Achilles tendonitis in my left heel due to severing the tendon back in 1998. I've found that after a year or two of annoyance you learn to run through the pain and it just becomes a bother and then you barely even feel it. Also I've learned the benefits of a good stretch, a good ice and a good anti-inflammatory!

Ask your PT how long you'll be out, they can give you the best estimate based on your injury. Just be lucky you're going to heal, I'm stuck with this stupid post-injury aftermath forever!

Good luck!!!

I was a sprinter and battled tendonitis in my right knee. In order to fully heal, you will have to miss the whole season, but you can run through the pain. I did and don't regret it a bit. By the way, tendonitis is just inflamation of where your tendons attach to bones, and it usually causes soreness, but a tendon tearing from it is extremely rare.

I had tendonitis during my senior year (XC) and missed 3-4 weeks of meets, but I kept training lightly and was able to not lose that much (training-wise). Your PT will likely consist of leg lifts and leg curls (light weight - lots of repetitions). Do these faithfully and the added muscle strength in your legs will take some of the burden off of your tendon. Good luck. Don't be afraid of a few weeks of rest and PT...you'll likely come back stronger! See the link below on this & other injuries. Good luck.
