Sometimes when I comb my fingers through my hair, I get hair splinters. Why is that?

The tips of your hair could have moderate to severe split ends. Split ends make the tip of your hair very fine and pointy... so it's kind of like little needles. I've heard of this happening to people... usually with dry skin on their hands. Try getting a hair trim and using some good thick conditioner for a while.
