Cats are nocturnal animals and have continued natural wild instincts. They would naturally be "hunting" in the night to early morning. This is why they tend to be more active at these times. Try putting out some quiet toys far away from your bed, this might help.

Wild cats hunt early in the morning when food animals (like voles and birds) are either coming home after foraging all night or are beginning to stir for the day. Your cats, naturally, want you to come and help even though they don't hunt for food. Besides, they get a cheap thrill out of waking tired humans up waaaaaayyyyyyy too early.

when my cats wake me early in the morning, it's usually because of 1 of 2 reasons...

they're bored and they want someone to play with or their food bowl is empty and they're hungry.

My calico likes to wake me up too. She wants to eat & have company, even if I leave food in her dish before I go to bed, she will still come in & wake me up to eat. I have to go out, shake her dish a little & then she will eat and not bother me the rest of the morning until late. I prefer that she does that at 5 or 6 a.m. but, I do ignore her if it is 3 or 4 a.m. and then she will usually come back later at 5 or 6 a.m.

My cat is pretty good about letting me sleep through the night, but the SECOND my alarm clock goes off, he starts meowing, like he's telling me to get up, stop hitting the snooze button, and being so lazy. Definitely makes it hard to get "just 5 more minutes" before dragging myself out of bed to get ready for work!!

For one of many reasons. Some of which are they may be on a feeding schedule and they want you to wake up and feed them. Another could be that they are excited about you waking up.

THEY WAKE YOU UP because they miss you. You have been sleeping for 8 HOURS.
They want to get their tummies rubbed, and they want to have their breakfast.
That way they can run around a couple of times, and take a really long nap later in the afternoon.

my cat used to wake me up when i first got her, i guess to say hey you get up and feed/play with me. this was undesirable for me though, so i stopped encouraging this attention seeking behavior by not responding in the way that my cat would find favorable. she then found another way to get attention(but not early in the am) and through positive reinforcement in response to desirable behaviors, and not rewarding undesirable behaviors my cat is a joy to be around

i dont even believe what those girls said, but maybe the reasons why cats does awaked their owners in the early morning maybe cause theyre hungery wants their breakfast or they want you hold them and gave them kisses or even want to go out side to use the rest room. my cats doesnt that but my dogs does every morning.

Because they CAN..... They don't need a reason. Maybe it has been to quit all night and they are lonely. ( I"m bettin on that ).Probably because when we are woken up with this soft bundle of purring love we just start to rub and coddle it and talk sweet to it. Cats know our routine,so they know if its about time for us to get up anyway.
Its like quit time. It is just for you and your cat..No one else exist until that alarm goes off..Its your cats favorite time of day..Just the too of you....
