If you are a US or Canadian citizen you can still drive across the border without a passport. You will however need a photo ID (Driver's license) and proof of citizenship (e.G. Birth Certificate, Naturalization Papers.) This will be changing next year based upon recent US Homeland Security regulations.

At the present moment you can, but you will need a birth certificate and I.D. (State license) to do so. By next year this time you will probably need a passport, no exceptions. If you want to fly to Canada you will need a passport effective as of Jan. 2007. To return to the U.S., same thing. Of course when I went it harder to get back the the states than it was to get to Canada. For more info:

Yes you *may*. The only time you need a passport, at present, is if you fly into Canada. In a couple of years, you shall need a passport *regardless* of how you travel to Canada, but not yet.

You can go to Canada, but you can't come back. Bring a passport! (the law just changed this year) I know many many people that have gotten stuck at the border, trying to come back. Don't let it happen to you!

yes you can. You can get across with just a birth certificate and backup form of ID (driver's license, etc.).

You need a passport to fly to the US and To Canada.

The deadline for means of travel by land and sea has been extended to as late as June 1, 2009.

Yes you can. Bring your driver's license. The problem is, the US will not let you back in without your birth certificate or a passport.

Yes, at least you used to be able to before 9/11. I still think so but am not 100% sure.
