I'm pretty sure he has ear mites but it doesn't look severe. He's a year old and goes in and out of the house as he pleases, and he does not have his shots.
I'm not going to a vet and the ketamine is all mine. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, but I swiped it with an isopropyl alcohol soaked q-tip. What now?

It IS ear mites. I've had cats all my life and know what ear mites look like. Little coffee-like flakes in the ear.
The blood is very slight and it is not from the inside. It is just on the outside. He probably scratched it too hard or got into a fight.
My cats are all family and friends, not property. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, otherwise I would take him to a vet.

The usual sign of ear mite infection in a cat is when you find tiny black flakes that look like coffee flakes inside your cat's ears. So, unless those are present, you can't say for sure that your cat has earmites.
When some part of your cat's body is bleeding, it means there some kind of injury or cut there. The only time I saw blood on my cat's ears was when he scratched a little too hard and cut himslef. If that is all, then cleaning it with alcohol is all you need to do - although, hydrogen peroxide is much better becuase it does not sting.
If on the other hand the bleeding seems to originate from the inner ear - then something is very wrong and you DO need to take the cat to the vet. It could signal an infection going on in the inner ear and YOU MUST NOT clean a cat's inner ear with a cooton swab or Q-tip - the smallest error would bust his eardrums.
Now check if the cat has those coffe-lie flakes in his ear. If present, then he has earmites. I have a homw remedy for that.

Take him to the vet. For one thing, if he's allowed outside you do need to get him vaccinated. There are just way too many deadly diseases he can catch outside to risk that.
The ear mites will bother him. They're not now because there aren't a lot of them. They do reproduce, however. Eventually there wil be enough of them biting away at his skin to cause open sores and infections.
By not taking your cat to the vet regularly you are ignoring his health needs. He should have had vaccinations a long time ago and will need yearly check-ups just to make sure he's doing well. Cats aren't people. They can't communicate ilness the way we do, let alone in any way we understand. Only a vet can do the tests he needs to have done for the sake of his own health and wellbeing.

It is people like you that make the courts think that our pets are just our property and not our family. You cat should be taking away and you should never be able to have another pet until you are ready and mature to take care of it and love it properly. This means shots and taking it to the vet when it has ear mites. You make me sick.

If you had one mite in your ear, you wouldn't be so nonchelant about it. Your cat is in pain and probably scratching at the ear trying to get the irritation out of there. He might lose his hearing if you don't get him treated. If you can't afford the trip to the vet for medicine, ask somebody for help. Maybe your humane society will help in a low income case. If you can't care for the pet, you should take it to the pound.

It is probably scratching from earmites, you will need to bring him to the vet for treatment as it is highly contagious to other animals and you will need to treat all of them. Earmite are horrible and cause them to be very miserable.
If you leave it, ear canker can be a secondary problem of earmite and it will cost you a lot more to treat. It is never wise to delay in seeking vet care as it always ends up costing more in the long run.

i think it's because a bug or a flea got in his ear or he jumped somewhere very high and landed on his side or you could have accidentally smacked him in the head in the door without knowing or kicked him in the head while you were sleeping. Just go to an animal hospital. And if money is a prob just borrow some from your mom or dad or bro or sis. Just take him to a ANIMAL HOSPITAL or he will DIE :( :( :(

oh. god. PLease bring it to the vet. It's cruel not to. IF you keep letting it go, it could get VERY serious. People who have animals should realize they need to take care of them and bring it to the vet. Otherwise, they don't deserve pets.
