I have to do a clean install of Windows XP Pro in order to add the service pack 2. I had thought to simply upgrade to Vista, but it seems I can't do this without first adding SP2.
Do you know a way to do this without having to do the clean install, and if not... Do you know where I can find a checklist of where to find the files I need to save so that I don't miss anything important.

I cannot add Service Pack 2 without doing a clean install of XP.
Anyone have anything useful that doesn't involve wiping my drive?

Let me try this again.
I cannot simply install SP2, it kills my system. The system will not boot up. I have had to boot into safe mode and then uninstall SP2 to save my system.
That said. In order to install SP2 I have to do a clean install, which is what I have done with my other computers. I cannot do that with this system because it is my business and I can't afford the time to shut it down that this would require.
ERGO, I CANNOT Install SP2 without a clean install.
