Snacking is fine and needed but its the snack you chose that has to change. Eat yogurt or fruit instead. Or if that isn't working for you then there are 100 calorie snacks out there you can buy that will help. People have to eat every 3-4 hours to keep up the metabolism. Its the amount that matters.

If you snack avoid things like chips or candy. If you need to snack snack on something that has a mix of protein and other nutrients like cheese, nuts, beef jerky, raw low glycemic fruit and veggies like avocadoes, tomato and cucumber slices.

But if you want to gain more control over your appetite, which is what I think that you are truly asking. Don't include bread, rice, potatoes or pasta to your meals.Your body will automatically turn them to glucose which will spike your insulin. If you have a steak and a salad with a full fat dressing ( yes, you heard me. Full fat! ) with a variety of vegetables, for example, you will most likely reduce the urge to snack. Junk that will cause your insulin to spike will also stimulate your appetite and you will have a strong craving to snack. Willpower is easy to say. You want to make it something that is easy to do. Eat your protein and reduce your intake of glorified poisons from your diet.
