Except for my mother, there is no one I admire more. They were the dearest, most wonderful and amazing people I've ever known. If, before the end of my life, I can measure up to even a fraction of what they were, I'll be very proud.

I have one left and she's in a nursing home due to a stroke and moderate Alzheimers. I never really saw her a lot before, so I don't go visit her all that much but I do love her.
But my mom's parents were absolutely wonderful. They were a second set of parents for my sister and me. They both lived until they were 95 (my grandma just passed away after Christmas). I never really knew them "young" as they were both in their upper 60s when I was born. But I never knew the difference. I am 30, and so many people I know that are near my age are indifferent when it comes to grandparents, but I absolutely cherished every minute I had with them. I miss grandma terribly, and wish I could get in my car right now and drive up to her. She loved taking us out for meals, but I used to get the biggest kick out of driving through Wendy's and getting her a loaded up baked potato and cup of chili. Even when it was 100 degrees outside, she was thrilled with the chili!
If anyone out there still has your grandparents, talk to them as much as you can and learn about them as much as you can. There's no greater teacher than their experiences, and no greater love other than a parent and child. That's been my experience at least.

I love mine to bits and am very fortunate to have 3 still. They are great-granparents to my children and you wouldn;t know the differnce betwwen me as a child and the way they treat my kids. I miss them 6 months a year while they are gone to Florida but make an effort to call them. And i try to help them clean their yard every spring. I even send over my eldest daughter to help them with thier bills and paper work. I am so happy that they are around for my children to know

My grandparents are gone now too, but I was fortunate to live close to them and I don't know how I could have made it without them. They were very important in my life.
