chew all the gum you want cuz soon there will be none of that along with hard candy and such. the more you chew now the more you wont want it on monday.
oh and brush really good cuz that part of your teeth wont show for quite some time.
Oh and braces are not that bad! If you are a girl choose the black and purple colors they look like jewels! or so everyone told me. otherwise go with plain silver.

I had braces during high school. There are definitely things that REALLY get stuck in your braces (i.e. sandwiches, lettuce, etc.), but I would say no food is completely off limits. Just make sure you carry a tiny mirror with you so you can check and make sure nothing is in your teeth after you're done eating. And if you drink soda, your orthodontist will probably tell you to cut back, because it wears away at the glue keeping your braces on. Good luck, and remember it's only temporary...they'll be off before you know it, and you'll have a beautiful smile! :)

In general, avoid sticky foods that can muck up your braces. For the first few days until your teeth adjust to the braces, you want to eat easy to chew foods because your teeth will be rather sensitive. After that there should be no problem other than what I mentioned above. Obviously, good oral hygiene is important because food will be more easy to get caught in the braces and cause cavities if not removed.

Hey i just got my braces off YAAAAY! =D dont worry itll be worth it when you have perfect teeth *grins*, when you first get braces and when you get them tightened eating can be a pain when you want hard foods like apples, carrotts ect.. you can eat basically everything apart from toffes and chewing gum, if you do be very carfull not to get them in the brace as they are hard to clean, if your getting train tracks try not to bite with the front of your teeth, i broke things up small when it was a hard food like an apple as the brackets fall can off and become loose and that means an unhappy dentist =]

I have had braces since august, and they hurt when you first get them on, and when you get them tightened, but other than that, they're not too bad. I thought spacers hurt way worse than braces. You can pretty much eat anything. Orthodontists give you a whole list of foods you aren't supposed to eat, but I've eaten everything, and haven't had any trouble. Good luck!! Don't be scared!!

*sigh* I feel for you. I had braces for 6 years!!!
Stay away from sticky candy, broccoli and corn aren't very attractive in braces, hmmmm what else--- oh PESTO- BAD!
I mean really what you have to do is start carrying a tooth brush and a little brush, called a proxy brush to get between the brackets for after you finish a meal. It a pain but saves you from the awkwardness of unknowingly advertising what you had for lunch. Good luck-- and stock up on Advil, you'll need it. :)

Listen to what the dentist says. Follow that as strictly as you can for as long as you feel neccessary. If you feel the need to cahnge the rules, such as eating popcorn or stopping the consumation of meat, then go ahead. All braces are different, and it depends on what you feel comfortable eating.
