To the island of forgien Samoa. (Not American Somoa)
It was a 24 hour trip with several legs to the trip.
The beauty of the place is beyond anything I have ever seen. The horizian seemed endless as if I were at the edge of the world. The ocean was far from tammed. The power of the sea was awsome.
I felt as though I had stepped back in time. The people's spirit was pure joy like the spirits of innocent children. They have a peace and wisdom that escaps us who think we are more civilized. The life is more simple and pure.
Most still live in straw huts. They often have a small house with houses their kitchen and houses their stuff.....but they still have their main housing in their huts. It is interesting to see some generators that connect to a TV in their huts. It is a real mixture of the past and the current.
They still have Chiefs who rule a group of people. The culture is facinating.
It is relitivly inexpensive to visit there. The biggest cost is the transportation there.
I found myself to be one of two americans there at the time of my visit. I rented a jeep for $7 a day. I drove through the rain forest which was an amazing experience.
Being there was like going back in time to a place where life is much less complicated. I would love to go again.

Black forest in Germany. It was totally different to walk into the woods and to see a castle. It was on top of a mountain overlooking a small town. I had to walk for a an hour to get there but it was well worth it in the end. I felt like I was in another universe. I live in the Oklahoma were the only thing to see is farms and the prairie.

I was an Air Force Bratt growing up. When my dad was stationed in S. Korea, we went there with him, and while there, my Mom and I traveled to China, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. Now I live in Idaho....weeee.
