Here's a couple that worked for me a few times (I called people as soon as I got up and started telling these, lol)...
I won the lottery!!!
The nuclear power plant had an explosion and a ??-mile radius (including us) needs to evacuate immediately!!! (this was used after asking the victim if they had seen or heard the news yet)
The place we work burned down and we no longer have a job (if you are in school, just use school instead of job).

put an elastic band over the spout thing next to the faucet in your kitchen. when the person turns the water on, it wont com out of the faucet, it will come shooting directly at them. Use a clear elastic if possible, and test it to make sure it works.

@ a sleepover, have everyone watch a scary movie. Then, when everyone's going to sleep, get a golf club and make wierd noises (golf club=ax)
@ school, put a fake (but realistic!!!) snake in the teachers desk.
@ home, freeze ur sibling's tooth brush into their cup.

while ur parents are at work (if they work, hopefully they do...) use red food coloring and put it all over and on a knife and leave the knife on the ground and have a winder open with a few drops and smuges of "blood' and then hide somewhere in the house. do other things to make it look like someone broke in,

smart thinking..........well the clasic whoopie cushion never gets old! putting FAKE snakes, spiders and creepy bugs around the house or on a desk or in a sleeping bag is HILARIOUS! and also just scaring the crap out of someone always does the job! sorry if it doesn't help!
